Pluck Your Weeds!

During the summer months, I enjoy spending time in my yard. After working all week, watering, feeding, and maintaining my flowers on the weekend, is a welcome joy.

When Saturday morning arrives, my husband and I start our day having coffee on the deck. Then, it’s time to get to work! He’s usually cutting the lawn, while I’m plucking the weeds. Let me just say that I hate weeds — I really, really hate weeds! If weeds are allowed to grow, they can literally choke the life out of beautiful, healthy plants. For this reason, I don’t let weeds get a stronghold in my garden. When it comes to weeds, I’m highly competitive; I will not stop plucking until all weeds are gone!

One thing amazes me about weeds: they tend to take on the characteristics of surrounding plants. It’s almost as if they are trying to go unnoticed! But, I know a weed when I see one!!

We all have weeds! And, like weeds, negative people, self-destructive vices: alcohol and drugs, and unhealthy foods, can harm us, if we aren’t continually plucking! We must be diligent in removing those things, from our lives, which can cause harm to our physical, spiritual, and mental well-being. Life is precious — we shouldn’t allow external elements to destroy it, without giving up a fight!

For instance, if we continue to eat unhealthy foods, cleverly disguised as real food, these foods will eventually destroy our health. But, if we pluck unhealthy foods from our diet, we can begin to reap the benefits of a healthy lifestyle. The plucking process is a lot much simpler than you think. All it takes is a willingness and effort to make a change.

Having a weed-free life is priceless! Now, go ahead and start plucking!
