The cold season is well under way, and believe it or not, you already have the best secret weapon for fighting colds. No, it’s not your medicine cabinet; it’s your kitchen.
That’s right! The family kitchen is the best defense against colds. Why? Because the kitchen is your science lab for preparing and storing foods that help fight against the common cold.
Just recently, I started getting that irritable feeling in my throat. You know the feeling; it’s as if your throat is about to close up. Immediately, I went into cold-fighting mode. The last thing I needed was to get sick. So, what did I do? I started loading up on all the foods I had on hand that are known cold-fighters: oranges, chicken soup, ginger tea, ginger beer. After a few hours of consuming these cold-fighters, I can honestly say that I felt much better.
I could have been a wimp and just took some Tylenol and crawled into bed. But, since the medicine cabinet is my last resort, I told myself to woman-up and go fix some homemade chicken soup. And, I’m glad I did!
So, when a cold starts to attack, don’t give in; fight back and head to your kitchen!
