With so much information available on nutrition and healthy eating, it can be difficult for us to understand exactly what we should eat to be healthy.
If there is one food rule we should remember, and that is, “Eat Simple Food.” But, you may ask “What is Simple Food?” The answer is quite simple (no pun intended): it is food that provides energy and nutrition, from protein, fat, carbohydrates, vitamins, and minerals, without preservatives and additives.
Sorry, but fast food doesn’t qualify as simple food. Processed and food-like substances usually are high in preservatives, additives, and flavor enhancers.
Another way of looking at simple foods is food that is close to its natural state. Author, Michael Pollan, said it best: “Eat Real Food. Not too much. Mostly Plants.”
