While I love the hot, summer season for enjoying family vacations at the beach, eating sweet, ripe watermelon and tropical fruits, and preparing quick, healthy salads, I look forward to the cooler temps of the fall season and my favorite comfort foods.
As soon as the summer season is about to end, I start reminiscing about all my favorite fall foods that I love to prepare for my family: turkey chili, navy bean soup, chicken noodle soup, vegetable soup, turkey jambalaya, turkey & spinach lasagna, and baked fish with stuffing & gravy (yum!)
Fall is the perfect time of year for preparing foods with seasonal fruits & vegetables such as: cabbage, kale, winter squash: butternut, pumpkin, spaghetti, and acorn, apples, pears, and persimmons. These seasonal fruits & vegetables are great in casseroles, soups, cakes, and pies. The menu variations are only as limited as your imagination.
